Warhammer 40k Black Legion Supplement Pdf
About Warhammer 40k is a franchise created by Games Workshop, detailing the far future and the grim darkness it holds. The main attraction of 40k is the miniatures, but there are also many video games, board games, books, ect. That are all connected in the 40k universe.

Okay, quick and dirty (this is from a competitive standpoint, much of this looks fun for casual play and this will probably help the faction quite a bit in that department). The raptor talon makes the unit worth a look again, although compared to some of the loyalist formations that do a same thing, disordered charges feels like a little bit of a kick in the teeth, won't lie. I wish you didn't have to take a lord.
At least his jump pack is free! I might actually paint some raptors and warp talons. The helforged warpack suffers from the units it's composed of being crappy for the most part. Could be fun to run a bunch of maulerfiends. Unfortunately the formation bonuses really don't do much for them.
Forgefiends seem like the best of a bad bunch, at least they can make decent use of the double demonforge thing if they live long enough. dies laughing at the triple lord of skulls formation. It doesn't matter what it does, and it's completely hilarious that GW thinks anyone's going to buy three of those damn things. Heldrake pack's decent. I often take two anyways. I'd like the Fist of the Gods a lot better if it didn't require 3 separate units of tanks. You know how loyalists have a bunch of formations like this that nobody ever takes?
Same issue here. Favored of Chaos with Crimson Slaughter's possessed table is. Actually not bad. It's an expensive gimmick, but making those guys into beasts with 3 and stuff is legit. Just keep the prince alive and go punch stuff. Mutilators still suck, but the cult of destruction makes oblits pretty okay.
Actually helps their issues with damage output/points. Again, it's expensive, but decent-ish. I'm assuming GW thinks terminators are so awesome they don't need any special rules. Likewise, the 'cult troops' formation I'm assuming is just some plagues or noise marines.
Was kinda hoping that could be taken outside of their chaoscurion, I'd love to be able to slot some noise marines into another army. One pleasant surprise; the command detachment is shockingly reasonable; just add one and take a sorceror/lord. That's really cool, especially compared to other books where your command choices require a bunch of extra crap you probably don't want, and which make including some kinds of characters really awkward.

Imo, the core choices are where it falls down. The Maelstrom is too many points for a core choice, and it commits you to running a bunch of jerks screaming across the board to get shot to bits.
At least it helps a little with getting there. Zerkers needed help getting into combat more than they needed help winning; they've never had trouble beating up most infantry, it's just the issue with getting there in the age of scatter laser spam and codex: grav. This helps, but imo it's not enough, and they're still deader than dead if they run into a supergargant walker, which are pretty popular now I hear. It helps, but it won't make zerkers suddenly good. The warband is too much. It's too many mandatory units, and too many of them are just badly overpriced and poorly adapted to modern 40k. CSM, the unit, are just kinda bad, and the way the game is currently played just exaggerates their weaknesses.
I actually like the Lost and the Damned cultist horde the best; if I ever use this thing, that's probably the core I'd choose. It's still a heavy-ish tax, but it's the least painful of the three, and its rules are fairly good. Recycling scoring units are pretty solidly good, the apostle making everyone near him fearless is solidly good, and more importantly, it leaves more points for allies (which you'll still need) and the formations that can actually get work done.
Verdict I think CSM will benefit at least some from this book, but the faction's still on the weaker side, and, more disappointingly to me, it still can't fight loyalist SM on any sort of even footing. Some of that is because of things a supplement can't fix. As long as grav exists in it's current form, CSM occupy some of the design space that grav deletes, and as long as a lot of the CSM unit entries themselves are so poor, there's only so much you can do with formations. In some ways, this is about as good as we could have hoped for. Like I said, the problems CSM have are bigger than a supplement can really fix.
edit: pointed out by others, Crimson Slaughter detachments can't include demon princes, so the Favored of Chaos idea doesn't work. Without the speed and durability. Like with zerkers, lacking killing power isn't what makes possessed bad, and that formation doesn't really give them what they need to not be junk. Favored of Chaos with Crimson Slaughter's possessed table is.
Actually not bad. It's an expensive gimmick, but making those guys into beasts with 3 and stuff is legit. Just keep the prince alive and go punch stuff.
If GW clarifies this to work, the crimson slaughter rule replaces the normal possessed one and is rolled at the beginning of the turn, we could have a winner here. For the rest i agree with you. Some of the things are ok-ish to good but still there is a quite big gap between csm and sm.
