First of all, I won't post any links because I believe it's a bad idea to use popular Internet opinion as your sole credible source.I mean, from your statement: 'I see the Samsung has bad motion flow issues,' I could reasonably infer that you have not actually seen this to be true, and that you are just repeating what you have read. You must go and see for yourself, and do your own comparison. I personally have not seen a TV that I would consider to 'not have any problems!'
As a matter of fact, I own a KDL-40V2500 and it has what I consider a severe clouding issue. Here, see for yourself below! All I'm saying is, if the clouding issue is a show stopper for you.buy something else! Damn man.i got a 32s210A.and its got slight backlight clouding in the top right corner.as in EXTREMELY slight.id call it more a butter smear than an actual visible cloud.if u walked in my room PITCH DARK mind u and looked at a BLANk BLACK screen u wudnt notice it straight away. BUT.it bugs me that its there.haha i live in a country that will give me 1 SWAP.but after that in better words would tell me to f@#!k off.' We cant do this everyday'. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY?!!!!!!.heck the dead pixel thing doesnt seem to affect many.
I think whats most annoying is that FOR ME THE SMEAR shows AFTER the lcd hdtv heats up.how annoying it aint the other way round. Keep the set. Just about every LCD panel I've seen suffers from some sort of clouding issues (whether it is VERY VERY VERY minor or severe). The chances that you get a 100% blemish free set the next time are slim. In fact, I'm willing to bet the next set you get has worse clouding than the one you have.
It's like zits, everyone gets them at some point (mild or severe). Originally Posted by brinkibrinki will be repaired? I talked to sony service technician.
It looks like it's going to be repaired, the lcd panel will be replaced. I'm praying so much, it works out well. So i'm waiting for 5 month for sony service to repair my tv!!!!!!!! Sony service says that they are still waiting for the panel delivery!?!?!? So this is the last sony product i bought!

I think i have to spent the money for shipping and let to replace my x3500 for another one. This is madness? Wtf thinks sony about customers? Buy and die!? I wish sony bankruptcy, because that is what they deserve for being like that to the customers. Well a SOLUTION.
For ppl with the two flash lights on top of bravia screen. I did a small experiment. On starting my hdtv i would have a completely uniform screen. Which.would then while heating up give the two flashlights. BUT on max heat i guess the symptoms sort of reduce.
Basically i concluded that on start up its perfect.as in i gotta keep the hdtv inside thru the two top vents a bit cool. I took an AIr blower(yes a bit extreme but i held it WAYYYY back),and directed it thru the vents.
They vanished. Im guessing if u could hook up two usb fans to the top of ure bravia and direct them down at the lowest level, just enough to circulate the hot air out of the hdtv.u might have just fixed ure problem. On another note. It boils down to this. If ure the guy that can see these clouds or flash lights while watching lets say the opening of starwars or outer space shots in general ( IN A PITCH DARK ROOM).yeah.u got a.
Hdtv.return it.uve wasted ure cash no matter what anyone tells u. If ure the guy squinting in a (PITCH DARK room).and seeing two faint gray areas in the top corners.on a frikkin BLACK screen. I guess im the latter and need a reality check. Heck to be honest this hit me when i was watching a space type show.and cudnt see the flashlights.i bought the hdtv to WATCH shows.not THE PERFECT BLACK. After about 30 minutes, the screen will brighten back to normal and the issue dissapears.
I noticed this this week and never had problems with the set before. Anyone with this issue? You may get more response in the xbr4/5 owners thread. Offhand, I'd say one of the panel driver inverters, or the panel controller may be having problems. I'd lean towards the inverter, bad/marginal capacitors often start to charge/discharge normally after warming up. Definitely put a service call into Sony.
Well, I have had a 40V2500 for almost 2 years now. Always had the flashlight effect, never knew it was universal and SHOULD have called it in during warrantee. Then 2 months ago, it turned on in a crazy scramble mode, like some kind of sync issue, even on its own menus. Flip it on and off a few times, and it goes back to normal, BUT.
Then it keeps what looks like a missing interlace on the bottom third of the screen, which results in a darker section with a new flashlight effect at both lower corners. It seems like Sony also pulled the esupport link, as the one posted here is dead, and I could not find another. I will never buy another Sony product in my life. This is the second 'shortly after warrantee' failure I have had with Sony (other was a remote for a DVD/VCR at 4 months, which would have cost $75 to replace the REMOTE for 'labor'. I was waffling between Samsung and Sony two years ago, and settled on Sony and of course, did not get the extended warrantee. Being an electrical engineer, I decided to pop the back.
There is a set of two PWB's on the left side with tons of crap on the rear side of both PWB's. Very strange as these are HV PWB's, so I would think the crap would arc up a lot. I may try to clean it off and see what happens. Luckily I got in on the Sears 40' Samsung for $800 'pre' BF mistake, so my son will get a sort of working 40' LCD in his room, and I am now a Samsung fan (note: replaced Sony DVD/VCR also with a samsung 5 years ago, and it is still working, although not used now much obviously). If anyone else has seen this darker horizontal section please reply, I am curious if it also is somewhat common. I did more tests. I didnt adjusted the settings optimally.
And my backlight is at max. The screen is very bright.
I tried to put backlight to min or 5, its a little better not much. But i have to say i dont see the white spots when viewing dark content even on star wars movies.
I notice it only 2 times in 2 hours testing movies. I saw the left corner white spot a little for 1-2 seconds in a harry potter scene (2 times), it was slight.

But when i saw just text in a totally black screen i saw the 4 whits spots. But no white spots when text display in a dark blue screen. Its very very difficult to see white spot in movies even when looking for it. I think my 4-5 clouds are not very bright. So must i exchange it?
I dont like seeing it when text is displaying in a black screen otherwise its hard to see the white spot in reality. Well, its kinda weird, it wont get worse over time, if you can barely see it, like only switching inputs, just keep it, its not worth the hassle, just have a repair guy come out for free, ive read some where they will pop off the back panel, lossen some screws, causing the pressure, and bam, its all gone, i might do that someday, but it wont get worse, mine seems to be fine when it first turns on, its just after it heats up and gets a little warmer, but I dont sit and watch a black screen, cause that would be boring, so i just live with it. Im in Australia and im having big issues with my 46' X. I bought it in late may, and noticed the clouding after a few weeks. During October i called Sony and they had their repairer come out and take a look, he was a real A#$hole.
Told me it was within limitations and that if i called Sony again they would charge me. I called again 2 weeks ago and had my TV taken away on Wednesday.
The issue i had was big clouding issues that occurred and deepened over time. After 2-3 hours of playing HD i could notice it while playing movies in dark patches, after 8 hours on the weekend of having the TV on (playing games, watching TV etc.) it was REALLY bad. Its now monday and i called theSOny repair centre to confirm what was wrong as i hadn't heard back yet, they are now saying it is backlight leakage and want me to wait another 2 weeks just for a sony rep to take a look. They said i 'should' have the TV back a week after he comes out. I called Sony today to make a formal complaint about the service they offer and to get this situation sorted out.
There is no way there are leaving me without a TV for 1 month when i paid for extra warranty and paid good money for this TV. I did break the box up and throw it out, so i don't really have anything to take it back to the purchaser with.
So what are my options? Sony say they will call me back within 5 business days to sort the matter out and come to a mutually beneficial solution, to which my answer is either replace my TV or have mine repaired within 2 weeks. Do you guys really think that its fair that i wait 1 month? What is the usual repair times on an issue like this? The service guy said it had something to do with the screen and they may have to replace it.
