Refrigerator Popping Noise

I searched back thru old threads and found the following, which solved the noise problem, now I just have to monitor the temperature and see if we can live with the 'fix'!! Previous post by expert: A model number may help others help you. Sounds like you may be referring to the damper. It controls the amount of cold air that enters the fresh food side of the fridge. Unplugging it should not damage anything. You will have to monitor the temperature in the fresh food section so that you do not freeze things or let things get too warm.

The fresh food side should be close to 40 degrees F.

Welcome to the Samsung forum on CNET! Samsung worked with CNET to create a forum where people can ask questions and talk about all Samsung products and get help with everything from HDTVs, Smart TVs, home theater components, phones, cmaeras to monitors and printers.

This forum is staffed by Samsung employees, but as we have seen in the past, often the most helpful answers come from CNET forum members themselves so please don't consider this just a Q and A with Samsung. This is a CNET forum and Samsung is here to be part of the conversation. I emailed Samsung at qasupport@sea.samsung.com I posted this video explaining my issue: This is my experience/what I asked Samsung. Needless to say, it's been a nightmare dealing with them. If you have any ideas what's wrong, pls let me know! Their website says to unplug your fridge for 30 minutes and plug back in.

It also says to reset ice maker by holding down ice maker reset button for 10 secs. We've tried both and neither worked. Samsung, Attached is a video of what is occurring with our freezer. I have called into Samsung 5 times now; each time requiring more than one hour hold time to speak with a rep.

On two occasions, the rep hung up on me. One one occasion, they assigned a local company, who is a Samsung Authorized repair center; called 620 appliance. On another occasion, they assigned a second local authorized Samsung repair center called Technical Pluf. No one would call me back from there and no one would answer the phone at that company. Finally, I got in touch with Scarlet in Executive Customer Service who got A & E Factory service set up with the above reference number. They were supposed to come today.

The only problem is that the repair placed called me today saying they were on their way and I would have to pay $125. I said 'no, Samsung set this call up for me since multiple people are having the same issue (cited here for example: Since Samsung set that up wrong, the repair visit was cancelled and A & E told me to contact Samsung. This brings me to you. I have called into Samsung so many times now and have had some of THE WORST customer service I could ever dream of having. I need to know what's wrong with my freezer and no one seems to be able to help! I am VERY FRUSTRATED. Can someone PLEASE assist?

I have attached a video showing what's wrong. I also attached a picture of our model/serial number and a copy of what I wrote down for today's service call that fell through.

Can someone please contact me with information? I am also posting on the CNet site I sent above to see if anyone has received any resolution from Samsung.' Now I'll wait and see what, if anything, happens. Last week, I just received delivery on a Samsung RF323TEDBSR French door Refrig/Freezer, and are experiencing a similar noise.

Noisy

I have not been able to isolate exactly what part is making this loud click, however, I did video the noise. I realize that the noise happens only after the freezer has been not opened for an extended period of time -like overnight. Every morning, when I open the freezer this loud click occurs twice, and then stops. It is on the right side of the unit, and appears to be caused by something freezing up, and as opened twice, it releases the frozen part?

Is there somehow I can attach the video, or maybe email to Samsung? Also, I have an existing issue logged with Samsung support for this noise. I have the exact same issue with the brand new RF30HBEDBSR purchased a few days ago. Samsung support says it is normal. I don't think so.

Brand new refrigerator this expensive making loud pop noise whenever opening freezer door is normal? My 2 other refrigerators I paid way less many years ago still don't make sound like this. This appears to be design defect. I am hearing this from the right side of the freezer drawer. If I close and reopen consecutively, it makes the noise for the first 2-4 pulls and the noise goes away. And then, the noise comes back if I try opening it after some time. I just bought the RF323TEDBSR - the day after delivery and install we discovered that the bottom freezer door - (right hand side)will 'pop' or 'snap' loudly at random time when opening - We cannot locate the source of the noise - it is very irritating.

I have tried to contact Samsung several time - they have no clue either - I may have to call Lowes and have someone come out and check it out since Samsung is sitting on their hands. I'm hoping hat someone reading this forum has figured out the problem and has a fix - please let us know thx Doug Porter. I have posted this elsewhere but I thought I would post it here in case some readers may find it useful.

I also have a French Door style refrigerator and likely the same problem you are experiencing. A loud pop/slap sound many times you open the freezer drawer. I noticed that (on the right side of the drawer) the spring with some plastic piece at the end is positioned differently every time the loud pop is heard.

When no pop sound is heard, you can see the spring through a small gap (about 11 inches from the front of the drawer) and the piece of plastic at the end of the spring is at about 13 inches as measured from the front of the drawer. When the pop sound is heard, you will not see the spring through the small gap and you will see the piece of plastic instead (so you will see the piece of plastic at 11 inches instead of 13). The pop sound I hear is the sound made by the piece of plastic at the end of the spring moving quickly from the position at '13 inch' to the position at '11 inch'.

Please note that these distances (11/13 inches) may be different for your model. I wish I could post pictures as that would probably be much clear than my explanation. Experienced same problem with recent Nov. 1st 2014 purchase of Samsung refrigerator. Bottom freezer door is making loud pop/slap sound at right side of door when opened. There is frozen food in both compartments - not completely filled with food. When I empty compartments down to the rails and re-open freezer door there is no sound.

When compartments are filled with food the sound returns. Model number is RF30HBEDBSR. Hhgregg had their delivery guys come out but no resolution. Does Samsung support have a fix for this problem or should the refrigerator be returned? It appears other customers are experiencing the same problems with this model.

Otherwise wife loves the product. I have the same issue on my RF30HBEDBSR/AA 4 door French door model. I did some exploring and found that the 'SNAP' sound is from the door closer on the right hand side of the fridge. From my experiments (and reading the manual) it appears this part is designed to ensure the door closes firmly to avoid spoilage. The problem is a maladjustment between the spring loaded clip and the peg that engages the spring. I just called Samsung, and they sent me a link to a PDF for realigning the freezer door. It involves realigning the roller bar under the freezer bin.

Here's the link. We bought a RF323TEDBSR in Jan 2013. I love it, but there have been issues.

The upper ice maker freezes up to the point that one needs a gorilla to pull out the box. We managed to find that the design is defective. A service person got a copy of how to fix it from Samsung. It was leaking warm air so he siliconed the source of the leak. Then there was a drip tube that needed to be extended I think.

It worked fine for a few weeks, but it still got stuck. Thus, we quit using it and use the lower one. The issue is having the upper box in the refrigerator, not in a freezer like our old side by side.

A few weeks ago, we picked up a fan noise that was likely caused by ice build up. It appeared that the fan finally knocked off the ice since the noise is gone. Now we have the clunking sound which we will investigate based on the post above - many thanks. Would I buy another Samsung refrigerator? Consumer Reports loved it, but they didn't live with it. We have three great Samsung TVs, but not a Samsung phone. Good luck with your clunking frig.
